Larry's wife here.
Larry crashed hard in Fernley yesterday. He fractured the ball socket to his femur and messed up his thumb pretty good. He will be going into surgery Tuesday at 9 am and probably won't be coming home until Friday. He's in the Roseview Tower, room 325, bed 2 if anyone wishes to visit. The phone number there is 775-982-4100.

I stopped in and saw him this morning. He was in good spirits and very hungry. Thank God I brought him some pocket chicken!! He would have chewed my arm off. The doc said he will be down for awhile, but when the physicist came in and took one look at him, She said "Sorry, there is nothing I can do for you!" He told me that he buried his thumb nail in the sand where he fell. Now every time I'll go through that corner, I'll think to myself, Rail that nail! We love you Larry, Get well soon!

Just got back from Reno, and I'm happy to say that Larry is doing great. The surgery went well. He said that he has to keep total weight off of his hip for a few months, but should not have too many long term problems. It looks like he will be going home Friday. He hopes to be racing again this fall. Larry is as tough as an old oak tree and he has skin like bark!

Went to the doctor yesterday. I am getting better. I get to start physical therapy next week. I hope to be on my bicycle by the end of summer. I hope to be back on the motorcycle by the end of the year. I don't think I will be at the vintage race. I wish I could but I have a lot of work ahead of me just to get off the crutches. I can start putting some weight on my left leg but it is so weak that it can't take all my weight yet. Still it is so great to get off the couch! I have been stuck to that d**n thing for 11 weeks and I am ready to make a bonfire out of it. I now understand how an older person can't come back from a broken hip. It is really hard to get back up after such a long period of down time! I will be ready to help for our International. I won't be dragging any hoses but I will be able to walk by then. See ya all soon!!

I got off the crutches and started using a cane this week! I went on my first bicycle ride today! It felt great. It was very hard to get on the bike but I did it and rode for about 2-3 miles. I will be at our pre-national in august. I won't be riding but at least Jesse will. See ya then!

I have been bicycle riding every other day. I am up to ten miles now. My hip hurts after I am done but it calms down by the next day. I am still using the cane but I am trying to walk without it as much as I can. I start the day without it but I have to use it by the afternoon. Can't wait to see you all again!

Larry, It will be good to see you again. Maybe we could have a foot race down the start line, and for once I just might beat you. I'm thinking about bringing out the BBQ and cooking up some good old pocket chicken! And after throwing back a bunch of "cold ones", We'll make fun of you because you walk like Chester from Gun smoke. Love Ya, see you soon!
