Let It B
This email forum makes it sound like some of them are a bunch of whining cry babies. Not saying they are, that's just how this forum makes them sound. I am slow and I have always have been slow. I went to the OT races to have fun regardless of my slowness and I accomplished what I set out to do. I have never won a moto and I never will. I felt happy to just a get a participation trophy.
If a racer can't enjoy the OT events unless he wins the moto then he should find a new hobby. I agree with T-Mann, they should run with pink backgrounds.

I am not a Master caliber rider, but I suspect that the term Master B is not something that makes most Master riders proud. We heard from several Masters on the subject and it was voted out at Congress. Let it be. If you really believe we need to add a class, how about something to split up the largest classes, Novice and Amateur.
What were the most Master B riders at any one event? 10 maybe? Annie do you have results? We have had North of 40 riders in each of the Novice and Amateurs ranks at our race several times.

Guys,
Face up to the fact that riders are keeping their wallet in their pockets. The economy is just too bad for the average rider to spend the amount it takes to travel 500 miles to race for the weekend. You could give everyone at the starting gate a trophy and you still would not fill the starting gate.
Bike shops are going out of business in very town due to low new bike and parts sales. Look at the practice tracks. The turn out is down 30% to 50%. Riders are making the choice to send their kids to college, rather than go racing at a track 500 miles from home.
The economy will change. But until it does, turn out will be low. More classes will not change the fact that riders do not have the money to travel long distances to race.

The question of combining the Master A and the Master B class has come up many times since the Master B class was created. 2 years ago, the motion to combine the 2 classes was passed by a close margin of 6 to 4. After 1 year there was a motion to reinstate the Master B class. It failed by a vote of.6 no to 4 yes. At the last Congress the question came up again. It was defeated by a vote of 9 no and 3 yes (Carlsbad, Socal and Las Vegas). The idea does not seem to be gaining a lot of support.
Did somebody say "let's try a Master B class and if it doesn't work we can always have a vote to eliminate it" when the Master B class was started? It is important that the rules and rule changes that are made at Congress are well thought out before they are instated. That is why the Agenda items are important. They should be worded carefully.
Some of the new rule changes for this year seem a little wordy. From last Congress there is a new rule that "A standard white flag only (not a white flag with blue stripe) will signify last lap". Could you use a white flag with a yellow circle?
It was also decided that "Plus 40 Master/Expert and Plus 50 Master/Expert shall combine to practice by themselves for 15 minutes". Why do they get 5 more minutes than everybody else? They are good, so they should need the same amount of practice as everybody else. Do those classes get more practice time because of the "prestige" found in those classes? It just seems peculiar. Everybody should be treated with the same respect.
