First Lap
Bobby,Regarding your comment about why do Masters/Experts practice longer than everyone else. I have no idea why it was implemented originally but I can tell you why we're in favor of it, at least at our event. We have started letting the support classes go out first. This accomplishes a couple of things. First, they are usually fast and help pack the track down and set lines. Second, they feel like part of the program. We have had support riders leave when they had to wait, wait, wait to even practice.
Then we send the Master/Expert classes out because they are our fastest. They finish setting the track in and setting good lines. A properly set in track holds up better, is more fun and is safer. So the longer they practice, the better the track.
I personally feel like practice is very important and would like to see longer practices across the board, for all classes. But I suppose time won't permit it.

Rich;
I've heard that argument before. But, I'm not buying it. It almost sounds like we think the Old Timers are too feeble and not capable of setting a track. I could argue that the Old Timers should race on tracks that we set the lines ourselves.
We have started our +30 Old Timer membership program. We intend to include +30 OTMX riders in all our local activities and when we have our International we will run the +30 class just like our +40 Old Timers. They will have 3 motos on Saturday and 2 Motos on Sunday. Their classes will not be mixed with any +40 class.
We will discuss your opinion that +30 riders should have first practice. One advantage to that is it will alert the +40 riders that practice has started and they won't be late to their own practice. We may even run all 15 minute practices.
Bobby
P.S. There's nothing like the first lap of the first practice.
New Heroes
Well, I have three new hero’s for 2011.
Kevin, Curtis and Erv! You guys obviously DO NOT work for a government agency because you all seem to have too much common sense.
I hope all of you have a good 2011 riding/racing year.
Go Kevin!
