Kinda hard to figure out what local race to drop so we can be sure to get an entry for Mammoth. It would be great to car pool to one of these races.

I hate Mammoth!. I wouldn't go If you paid me. The track is fun but everything else is a huge nightmare. The track does not make up for all the crap that goes with it.

Larry, I guess this is a matter of how old you are. Young riders can not know "what it once was" to be at mammoth. They don't miss what we miss because they never knew it. The good ole days will never happen again at mammoth so I also would never be part of the frizzle that happens everytime someone says, "it;s time for mammoth". Heck, it's to much hassel to just get a entry secured let alone the nightmare of parking, pit, and knowing which day is pracitice, which day do I race, etc, etc, etc.
Mammoth is a gone and well remembered event that made me at a certain time in my life feel like I was in "the big time". But, with the present arrangement, not for me, A "playday" would be a much more enjoyable weekend...........Rooster

Yes its a bit of a zoo now, but since they added the VET weekend back in I've heard lots of great things from the older crowd. Its not hard to figure out that you race on Saturday and Sunday. Practice is not needed when you have rode that track as much as most of us have.
I have a deep love for that track and the way the town comes to life for a few weeks. Yes its crazy, but its great to just sit back and watch, chat with the locals and get some good stories about the crazy people. I have a deep hatred for that track. I have raced their at least 8 times and have NEVER made the main. I have up on the regular mammoth and lost hope when the vet weekend, But now my hope to finish the race is renewed. I do have a bucket list and winning at that track is on it.

I raced there many times back in the 80s when my father was riding the internationals. It was much more fun then. Now it seems like it is all about the money that the race can generate for the town. I will never go to a race where I have to pit three miles from the track. It is no fun to sit in the back of my truck in a parking lot that far from the track and have to leave my son and wife in the truck while I ride my bike three miles to the track and hope I didn't miss my moto. Then once I get to race I have to get spanked by a bunch of former experts who ride the novice class because they quit racing for a year and think it's just fine to drop three classes for Mammoth because everyone else does.

JB, take pictures and I will be joyed to view them. That's about as close to mammoth I want to get. You are younger and have the spirit to do it so I wish you to have a great time, experience some great moments and cherish the time you spend there.
Looking for a full report on the race when you get home!!!!!!!!!!!
love, Rooster
