No one's afraid and no one is in trouble. It's just that time in the schedule that there is not alot going on with the club or Fernley and don't have any plans to discuss right now. Just a slow time. Come to think of it................at our ages everything is a slow time..........................I did notice there was more action on 775 about the old guy classes. Guess it's time to try out the 28.
Looking forward to MMX for the Sierra playday and then the race the following weekend. Hope the track is fun. FUN track is more important now days than winning anything.
Normally, we hear some action out of JB which keeps us going on the forum, but haven't heard to much from him in the last couple weeks. He's in high classification meeting I'am sure to keep the club afloat.....................................we will hear something soon..........................................Rooster

Yeah Rooster, I was just trying to get something going here. Even Larry has been silent lately. Well at least we heard from Gilly and we know now that he's still kickin'.
MMX last Thursday. January was the last time I was there and in every straight there were whoops. The owner told a bunch of up he was going to take about half of them out. Thursday the track was exactly the same as it was in Jan. except for taming some of the whoops after the first turn. Maybe he'll work on them for the race. That'd be nice. If not I hope everyone is in great shape. Anyway it's too much fun!! Traction is incredible!! Makes you feel like your 20 again.

Just not much going on. Been doing more yard work than OTMX work.
I have been curious if the Sierra/MMX int. will have 5 motos for the 30+. I see its the same price to enter as the 40+. I'd hate to assume...Again.
Oregon is planning on the 30+ classes 5 motos at Washougal. There is a practice the wednesday before the race this year. Might be nice to head up there for 5 days and have some fun. I imagine the weather would be cooler than Reno on the first weekend in July.

How could we be mad at 542? He just joined the forum. Only has 14 posts under his belt.
It might just be quite around here because we are morning the passing of a legend. MX "G" was a true comedic super star. I keep hoping to see him logged in every time I check the forum. I used to get some wild PMs from him. This one time he asked us to put in a whole straight away of whoops... So we did it in him memory. Let the fernley sand whoops develop into 4ft deep monsters.

Just talked to Big G and he clarified a few things. First Fernley is spelled with a capital "F". He said he meant it when he said more whoops in the area we were speaking of. You see (said he) he was trying to suggest some changes to the track to make it more fun for the fast guys but still do-able for the normal guys like you and me. Second, those wholes you are so proud of are in place of a jump (or sort of a jump) which means one less obstacle on the track. Ole Big G wanted me to relay to everyone the following A. We've all had bad wrecks and spent time at or in the Hospital. Just because someone gets hurt in a section of a track is not a reason to take that section out. That section is/was OK for everybody but one guy, he was either riding over his head or not lookin' where he was going. You can't make an MX track 100% safe. B. The start straight on the west track is waaaay too short. Mo bedda the start straight go straight to the access road merge (as in make a right turn) then straight to the left after the 3 small tables and enter the track that way. Big "G" went on to say he will, from now on, be relaying his infinite wisdom to the Nevada Old Timers through 542 and that he had to close his account because the "Copy and Paste" fiasco on 775 made it look like he had said things that he hadn't and he was getting nasty PM's and emails. He said he had become weary of the whole mess.

I think the track, (tracks) at Fernley are both fun now. The recent changes to the east track going through the willows again is great fun and adds to the flow of the old track. The west track is getting little adjustments as it goes along. The new straight will develope with some more time and the 3 small tables in front are just a gas. The two long downhill tables are much nicer to use now and I think they (the track builders) have some new good ideas yet to incorporate. It all takes time to develope and some things tired will not work and be changed again. By looking at the new start area it does seem to be short, hook rather sharply left then right and maybe could be smoothed out to enter better, but I have never run a start on it so I will reserve my right to change my mind. When time permits, the tunnel will be inserted and make a nice new jump and also give the spectators an avenue to the infield area and better access to watch the races. It will be great when that gets accomplished.
All in all, I think Fernley is doing OK and I will always love the sand................................................Rooster

Well Mr. Pres. since your so convinced I could never actually do a whoop section (which I can) that was set up for skimming (blitzing, blasting what ever you care to call them) how 'bout some of the other OTMX tracks we ride that have whoop sections; LACR (gone but never forgotten), Glen Helen, Comp. Edge, Tulare, MMX (a line of at least 10 big ones),Washougal (monster, very deep and sharp), Idaho, Barona Oaks, Extreme MX. and I'm sure more. Then the question I have is if OTMX is a club endeavor don't you think the members of the Club could use a section of the afore mentioned whoops to practice on?
P.S. Back in the day (?)many years ago, like '05, Fernley had a nice section that I could do on my Vintage 650 Triumph. That would be the track of my last Vintage race and yes I won the Premier class.
P.S.S. For the readers of this post I'm kinda bating our good Pres. cuz I haven't been able to get anything out of him in over a week. Me thinks he's ignoring me.

Whoa there mister. I'm sure you could blitz whoops all day long. It was Big "G" that I was having some fun with. Come on, we have 5 whoops and there was always somebody crashed in them. I cant imagine if we had 30. I'm slow, so I usually roll or double through whoops I tried blitzing the tops of the set in Boise and ended up with a broken hand. If memory serves me right there are only 7 or 8 in the set at Boise... Isn't it awesome we can even have these converations? I mean none of the other chapters have their own tracks and can manipulate them how ever they please. I cant wait for the next event so we can try out the next round of changes...

Big G sends his LUV. Right now he's in Cartagena sampling the local night life. Whoa??? Now wait a minute Buster. 1st. there are two pairs of whoops of two whoops each separated by about 6 feet. I guess so after you do the first two you can take a rest before doing the other two. 2. Originally there were 5 and I asked for 3 more and my goal was to have something more challenging and we could all develop more riding skill. You and Rick laughed at me. So there smarty pants!

BUSTER? LOL!
I haven't been called buster since my great aunt Eaddy died. And that was even a long time ago. Buster....lol Next thing you know I'll be whipper snapper.
Maybe we could talk Pete or Mike into putting a section of whoops into the East track? The OTHG meeting is next tuesday night.....
buster... That made my day. I'm still chuckling about that.

Hold on there Buster, you young Wippersnapper. You better listen to your Elders here. Well, Back in the Day, when you were still Wet Behind the Ears, about the same time you were told that you young ones where to be Seen but not Heard, your dad told you the five things that would get you to manhood. Remember? He told you to look around and know (1) Who, (2) What, (3) Where, (4) Why, and (5) to keep your mouth shut.
The #(5) is really don't speak until you really know the other 4 and have All your Ducks in a Row.
The mark of a good leader is knowing how to delagate. Besides if you put someone else in charge and it goes wrong, it's not your fault..................
As far as whoops go...............when I raced bikes with 4 inches of travel we had 4" whoops, then progress came and we ended up with 12" of travel and now have 12" whoops. Make whatever you want.............someone will build something to ride it with.
That's enough wisdom for the moment............BTW, Stan and Rick are the track designers, builders, changers, adders, subtractors, etc, etc, etc,......................don't piss off the track builders, women workers, or the guy that brings you drinking water and you just might have a chance to survive..................Rooster

You seem to be saying, without actually saying it, people (me) shouldn't suggest anything or say anything. Yeah no input from anyone just shut up and let the board of directors do it all. OK will do OK HERE'S THE DEAL WITH (AT LEAST WHAT I DO) BENCH RACING FOLKS IT'S ALL BS. WE KID WE THREATEN WE TEASE EACH OTHER IF SOMEONE GETS PISSY WELL TO BAD. I GET PISSY, ROOSTER GETS PISSY AND EVEN BUSTER GETS PISSY, BUT IT'S ALL BS AND EVERYONE GETS OVER IT. WE'RE HAVING OUR TWISTED TYPE OF FUN.
