There's a flyer on the MMX site that says on the Sunday of the International they will be having Pro racing on the track we are suppose to be riding. The flyer says it is in conjunction with the Sierra Old Timers. Three classes, (I think) 25 minute motos. Anyone know anything about this? This sort of thing usually makes the Old Timer stuff run really long. I just glanced at the notice and didn't pay much attention.

While your there practicing this weekend woud you also ask them if the 30+ classes get 5 motos and practice in the am, or if we will be running in the afternoon with the support classes.

Just guessing, but it would seem to me that Sierra OT are incorporating the pro purse races to draw more "extra riders", probably to enhance the track fees the promoter will be getting for the weekend rental. With the smaller rider turn out at the internationals this season I can understand the reasoning. Just guessing again, but I bet we have our two motos sunday before the pro purse racing starts. We will find out this weekend I guess.................................Rooster

Sort of like the LA race where they allowed non-OTMX members to ride OTMX classes, which by the way must have screwed up the points for those classes. When I pulled out my card at sign up they said "no card required this is an open race". A sign of the times I guess. Not enough OTMX members or OTMX members not showing. Maybe time has passed the Old Timers idea by. I know reading on the SoCal site this week they were talking about dividing North and South ( SoCal and everybody else except maybe Arizona) and only having one International a year. The problem created by dividing, as I see it, is with a relatively small group (SoCal) you end up racing the same people every time you race. The same people win every week and you also don't get a chance to meet other riders. Maybe the OTHG has the right thing going on.Five relatively close Nationals a year (although almost no one from Reno goes to any of them except their own race). Of course one Chapter makes all the rules, SoCal, and (as for me) their not interested in having +60 or +70 classes. But they do have +30 classes so how about a merger? OTHG & OTMX and no support classes which would leave time to get all classes run in a weekend (+30 thru +70). so whadaya think?

This post could be a long one............I will try to break it up into installments so the reader doesn't get bored. Would hate for my point to get missed bc they are to bored to finish.
First, North and South. Doesn't sound like a bad idea, North Championship and a south one. Then the two meet once a year for a showdown. That's are far as it goes. South has the largest number of members, active riders, etc. They have a great "inner series" already going down there. North less active, fewer tracks (spread out distances) and no one coordinating resources. Fernley (as it stands now) is about a center point for North and South riders. SoCal riders don't go any further north than us and Northern clubs stop at us. If a north/south were established we would be North. The southern tip of the North region. Sucks, our numbers would be even smaller and most of the north riders would like to stay in the Wash./Oregon local and most the the South riders would stay around LA. Sierra and Nevada pretty much out in the cold. Adding new classes, ie., support - pro purse - 4 wheel quad, whatever is not the answer. Just promotes discontent. Split up the existing clubs isn't the answer either. Only lets the big clubs, (areas) get bigger and us small venues get smaller. You know the "old" saying: "We decided to put on a race and nobody came,"

First of all you ought to go to a more Northern race than Fernley and check out the # of riders from th south. Then try a more Southern race besides Arizona.
