2012 NV International

Hi All,

I have attached the Flyer and entry for this year NV OTMX International at Fernley. Our International race is coming up on Labor Day again this year. We have some exciting plans for this years race. We boaght a new starting gate and lots of track decorations. We are going to run the new "West" track on Saturday and then the "East" track on Sundays. Both tracks will be accessed from the centralized new dirt start.

This year in addition to our loyal OTMX racers we are trying to bring in some new people to the OTMX scene. We are only going to charge $10 for pre-entry per day into the support classes(+gate fees). The OTMX as a whole is getting older and the only remedy for this to let a younger crowd see what we do and how much fun racing with us can be. Since the International race is supposed to be about the 40+ age groups and not the 20+and 30+ we have put a limit to the number of support entries available, and will require them to run after the first round of OTMX motos. If we get no new people to come play with us, at least the OTMX members whose kids race in the support class with be able to race for much cheaper.

So, if you know anybody who owns a Dirt bike and kinda wants to try racing again we will have a less expensive alternative for them. If you or anybody you know has any questions feel free to contact one of the board members.

The flyer mentions a second OTMX class for $40.00. Can elaborate on this race?

Do you want gate fees mailed with pre-entries? How will that work at the gate?

If somebody wants to race a second OTMX class they would have to race in a lower age group. For example a 60 year old could race a second class with the 50s or 40s. The rider would receive international points for there typical class.

Pre entered gate fee is still a topic of discussion. The current plan is that Rick(treasure) will make a list for us letting us know who the first 100 entries are(Free shirts) and who has paid a gate fee. The list of pre paid gate fees will be give to the gate people and sign up people. Now in saying that this plan is not set in stone and will more than likely change a few times before the race.

If it simplifies things you can just pay the gate fee at the track. We will have some people at the entrance and also walking through the pits collecting funds.

WOW the time has flown by. We are now weeks out from the International. I see fuel prices are climbing just in time, but Fernley is still cheaper than Reno.

Guess its time to make sure we have a Meal, shirts, sponsors, swag, raffle prizes, drinks, lunch for staff, equipment operators, equipment for the operators to operate, hire new staff for bus, hire new lap checkers, Trophies, kiss somebodies butt because somebody else made them mad, and maybe a few medics. ;D

Anything else I should be doing? Its my first time and all, so you guys are welcome to give me a hard time and tell me what you really think. Next year I might not care and wont listen. So speak up.

How do you guys feel about all the NV guys putting a letter on their bike? I think we should all be sporting a "R" or an "N". I want the new people that come to race or watch there friends race know who we are.

I'm going to ask the announcer to keep track of the NV guys and hopefully get some spectator involvement for the guys rocking a letter.

I run 63N at all the OTMX races I go to. I proudly show my club letter.

We have maybe a half dozen guys coming up from SoCal. Usually have more but we have several on the injured list.
I don't think we've ever had a number plate letter but I usually sport our club jersey even though it's not in the rules anymore. Back in the day, everyone wore a club jersey which made it really easy to watch your riders. Just not "fashionable" I guess.

RK, Glad to hear some of you guys are going to make it. We have done the bibs in years past, but like you said its not quite in fashion these days. If there is anything you need, or anything we can help with just let me know.

Just a reminder to everybody to get water early, or if your coming from out of town buy it before you get to the Reno/Fernley area. With Burning Man going on bottled water is in high demand.

I run the bib on the back of my chest protector all the time. It is a club pride thing.
By the way, has there been any progress on some club jerseys for us? I think a blue and yellow long sleeve T shirt with the A/J logo on the front would be great. We could have our name and number put on the back ourselves if we wante it. The same blue and yellow as the bibs. I would like one in XXL.

T-50 hours and counting.

Running through the lists twice. Do I have everything... Did I call everybody... Can we pause the clock for a day or so. Seems like a lot to do in such a little amount of time. I'm so thankful that some people are stepping up and helping get it all done. What a great club and group of people I have to work with. Almost there now, it time to just let it happen and do what we do.
